Aim |
Partitivity is closely related to
the semantic-pragmatic categories of definiteness and specificity. In
fact Paritivity has even been claimed to be equivalent to specificity
(by Enc 1991). Since in partitives two determiner phrases are combined
to one, their properties with respect to definiteness, specificity and
also quantification are particularly interesting. Typological work is
necessary, since every language has some partitive construction(s). The
different means in various languages may help us to become a better
understanding of partitives and other semantic and pragmatic categories
in general. The aim of this workshop is to give a cross-linguistic
overview of partitive constructions. |
